Each month or so, you'll hear from one or more of our Optimists who'll bring you up to date on their adventures as well as ways they've found to have fun and save money with Optimum.

I'm a 32-year-old gadget-head who believes giant robot movies MUST be seen on a 48" HD screen or bigger. And any sound system worth the money lets me hear the crack of the bat AND the ball landing in the grass. Only one thing can pull me away from my electronics wonderland: my girlfriend Sarah, who insists on dragging me outside at least once a week whether I need the Vitamin D or not.

I'm in no hurry to get to 30. (18 months...) I believe in a life balance. For instance, I balance my love of great food with a passion for exercise - especially my cardio-kickboxing classes! I balance my very weird love life (with an adorable couch potato named Justin) by relaxing with romantic movies about guys who actually leave the house once in awhile. I'm usually shackled to Twitter and Facebook.

Self-employed for 30 years, I see retirement on the horizon! But business is good right now here at The Part-Nerd so I'm in no hurry to close up shop. Besides, my wife Eve says we're too young to retire. All I need is a phone and an Internet connection, so I work mostly out of the house. And when the workday is over, I walk to the living room, grab an iced tea and pop on the game or a history program. Life is good.

The back-to-back meetings and long hours of the marketing business were much calmer than raising three kids! Sports. Dance classes. Scouts. Homework. The PTA. I love it, but c'mon! I make time for my own (mental) health with a workout, three times a week. And I save extra car trips by doing most of my shopping online. The best part of the week is family TV time. At least I know where everybody is!
