Enhanced 911

Optimum Voice home phone service has always included Enhanced 911 emergency service.

Enhanced 911 service, sometimes referred to as E911, provides emergency services with the name, phone number and home address associated with your account when 911 is dialed. Therefore, if the caller is unable to speak, emergency services can still be dispatched to your home. Optimum Voice's E911 calls are connected into the same call centers as traditional phone companies, meaning 911 calls will be answered by local emergency dispatchers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Enhanced 911 is automatically added to every Optimum Voice phone line and requires no action on the part of the customer to activate.

Important Information on Enhanced 911

• E911 will not operate during power or network-related outages. A battery backup can be used to provide a power supply to your service in the event of a power outage.
• Your Enhanced 911 service is tied to the home address where Optimum Voice was originally installed. Before moving your Optimum Voice modem to a different address, you must contact Customer Service to ensure your E911 continues to function properly.
• If your Optimum Voice service is disconnected, E911 service will be disconnected at the same time.
